I'm such a noob, I just discovered Google Earth.
If you're a bigger noob than me and haven't discovered this yet, get your virtual booty to earth.google.com/download-earth.html and dl it. Play with it and enjoy.

I've found many of the landmarks in Shenzhen; it gives a new perspective on a place with few good maps.
...and of course, have a look at New Orleans!
