"It's Trey. Where are you right now? And what kind of car are you driving?"
I take a small glance at the truck.

"We're here. As we said, the red SUV. Are you close?"

"Yeah, we're arund the corner. We can see you. I just wanted to make sure it was you we were seeing. We'll be there in a sec."
I hang up and turn to the others.
"That's them."

Wic contracted his chest to sigh but his lungs were already empty.
"Good." he returned the throwing knife to a sleeve and nodded to the others, "Nothing like some paranoia to start the evening off right, yes?" He gave a thin-lipped smile.

I smile as I begin heading towards the truck.
"Well, at least we're on our toes and alert."

I give a wicked grin and follow.
"Ah yes paranoia. Seeing death around every corner and even yearning for it at times. To know thy time of departure could be a blessing or a curse. Only the shadow knows but he's not telling. hehehehe. There is only one cure you know. Laugh, laugh, laugh in the face of death."
this night shall be a good one indeed.

Wic frowned as he followed Trey to the SUV.
I can't tell if he's serious or not.

You cross the road to the SUV very quickly, and as you're almost, over the passenger window winds down, revealing Marla sitting there, and Michael leaning across.
"Evening neighbours. Are we ready to saddle up?"

It takes Wic a moment to get the idiom, but then he nods, turns and looks at Jessie.

Jessie nods at Wic, and then addresses Michael.
"I've got my car round the block. I think one of us, I forget who, is riding with you, and the others are coming with me."
She turns to Wic.
"You wait here, i'll bring the car round so we can follow on."

I motion to John as Jess walks off to get our car.
"John here'll be riding with you two," I say to Mike. Hopefully those two could stomache the random quoting or whatever it is that John thinks he's doing.

Michael leans out slightly further, so he can see John properly.
"Gotcha. John buddy, hop in the back there, and we'll wait for your friend."
After a minute or so, Jessie's yellow VW Beetle comes round the corner, and pulls up behind the SUV, its engine idling.

Wic gave Trey an adversarial look and said, "Shotgun," as he walked to the passenger door and began wrestling with the seat-back. After following some instruction from Jessie, he managed get it to swivel forward. He held it there like a doorman and waited for Trey to enter.
There was a glint in his eyes, was it playful ...or cruel?

I look at Wic for a moment, unsure of how to react. If he's playing or not, that's wrong. So I tell him.
"That's real dirty man," I smirk at him as I duck into the back seat and situate myself in a sideways position elevating my legs slightly.
"At least I don't need to worry about cramping."
